The sun set over the horizon as the golden moon rose high into the sky, surrounded by a splash of stars. Harriet Winters shivered as the wind scooped up her skirt and blew the blanket from her newborns face away. Hundreds of scared people scattered across the towns square; clutching at their children and carrying their remaining belongings.
Harriet was just realising what was happening to her world, when she heard the distant tremble of a bomb in the next town. The frazzled woman pulled her baby close and said a prayer out loud.
